BEIJING, Dec. 13 (Xinhua) -- An earthquake with a magnitude of 5.5 jolted Kuril Islands at 1743 GMT on Friday, the GFZ German Research Centre for Geosciences said.

The epicenter, with a depth of 91.3 km, was initially determined to be at 50.94 degrees north latitude and 156.87 degrees east longitude. ■
