MEXICO CITY, Dec. 11 (Xinhua) -- Veteran striker Javier "Chicharito" Hernandez has parted ways with boyhood club Guadalajara, the Mexican top-flight side said on Thursday.
The announcement came less than two weeks after Guadalajara was eliminated from the Liga MX Apertura title race with a quarterfinal loss to Cruz Azul.
"Club Deportivo Guadalajara informs that Javier Hernandez is concluding his second spell as a Chivas player," the club said in a social media post. "Javier, we wish you the greatest success on the path you will take from here on."
Hernandez rejoined Chivas in January 2024 after almost 14 years abroad, a period that included spells at Manchester United and Real Madrid, among other clubs. He made 41 appearances in his second spell with the club and scored four goals.
Local media reported that the 37-year-old, who is Mexico's all-time leading scorer with 52 goals, is seeking to continue his career in the Liga MX or the MLS. ■
